İlhami Sığırcı is professor in the Faculty of Foreign languages at Social Sciences University of Ankara. He graduated from Division of French Language and Literature at Cumhuriyet University with a first degree. He also ranked first in the national examination held by Council of Higher Education in Turkey to send students abroad for studying. He completed his Master (Master and DEA) and doctoral education in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Toulouse Le Mirail in France. He has many books, one of which is a “Practices of Semiotics, Pronunciation Methods in French-Phonetics, Methods of Forming Sentence and Translation in French, A Guide for Using Prepositions and Conjunctions in French. International Proceeding Book of Translation Studies and Terminology. He has also served as the editor of some of these books. Apart from these books, the author has many nationally and internationally published articles and papers on linguistics, semiotics and translation. Furthermore, he is also reviewer of many national and international journals. He has also performed as the president for organizing committees of five international congresses one of which is on semiotics.
